The Hike Collective acknowledges the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we hike. We pay our respects to ancestors and Elders, past and present. The Hike Collective is committed to honouring Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas and their rich contribution to society.

History of us

My name is Kate Gibson, and I started The Hike Collective, Perth based hiking tour company in February 2019, offering local hiking tour and experiences on Perths Best Hiking Trails.

The Hike Collective is a small ecotourism company providing inclusive, accessible, high quality, and environmentally sustainable hiking experiences on Perth’s best hiking trails, while celebrating the powerful impact that movement, connection and nature have on mental health.

The concept of The Hike Collective first came about in 2017, when I started a facebook group  for community meetups as a mental health awareness campaign, raising money and awareness for mental health charities. I found that the impact of hiking on my own mental health was something that couldn’t be ignored. It was a successful idea, with a growing community involvement.

In October 2018, we began to implement strategies and procedures to operate ecotourism hike tours providing education, a substantial environmental sustainability plan, a connection to land and culture, and products and experiences to attract local and national tourists to Perth’s best hiking trails.

In February 2019, The Hike Collective received a commercial operators license with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation, and Attractions, and we officially launched The Hike Collective as  an ecotourism company. We still pride ourselves on providing an outlet for our guests to appreciate their mental wellbeing, and bring awareness to mental health, and part proceeds from our hiking tours are donated to mental health charities each year.
